It is native to Afghanistan and Iran, but has been introduced to most of Europe, and parts of South-East Asia, North and South America.Lovage is used as a herb, its seeds as a spice and its roots as a vegetable mostly in Germany, Netherlands, England, Southern Europe and some Easter countries, it is said to have been used heavily from Ancient Greeks and Romans as a food, spice or sometimes even medicine. The stems and leaves are shiny glabrous green to yellow-green and smell somewhat similar to celery when crushed but is sweeter and stroger. The herb is said to be Anti-allergenic due to its anti-inflammatory nature, to be helpful with Arthritis problems and to improve skin appearance along with being a normal remedy for digestion problems. Making tea: In a cup of water add 1/2 tbsp. of dried lovage leaves. Boil for 1 minute, remove from the heat and leave the mixture to stand for 15 minutes.Strain and drink.
