Darjeeling Tea | Margaret’s Hope 2019 Second Flush Loose Leaf Black Tea Muscatel

DARJEELING TEACountry of Origin: IndiaRegion: DarjeelingTea Estate: Margaret’s HopeAltitude:1800 to 2200 mGrade: FTGFOP (Fine Tippy Golden Flowery Orange Pekoe)Manufacture Type: OrthodoxPicking Time: June 2019Ingredients: Luxury Second Flush Tea Margaret’s Hope Estate produces some of the most sought-after teas in India. The tea bushes at Margaret’s Hope are mostly from the Chinese variety of Camellia sinensis and grown at altitudes of 6000 – 7,000 ft above sea level. Growth is much slower in the cool weather at this altitude producing limited crops. The compact, wiry dry leaves of this tea are a nice mix of black, rust and sage color. They give off a full, fruity aroma of apricot, peach and plum. The brewed leaves are bright coppery in color with a heavy, muscatel aroma. The brew is transparent, deep auburn in color giving-off a lovely, complex aroma of dark chocolate, aged rum and resin. This mildly, sweet cup has a delicate astrigency, a round and well-balanced taste with tones of cinnamon and rare woods. The tea has a characteristic muscatel aftertaste. We think this tea might be a keeper and will age very well developing a fuller, sweeter profile. We will sure love to know in 2019!Insider tip: You will love this tea with freshly baked scones!Steeping: 2 teaspoonful per cup (3 grams for 8 ounces/ 240 ml) of water at 90°C (194°F) for 4-4 1/2 minutes. Masala Chai Blend of Loose Leaf Black Tea & Indian Spices English Breakfast Tea

ASSAM TEA Country of Origin: IndiaRegion: AssamManufacture Type: Orthodox | Loose LeafPicking Time: Summer 2020Ingredients: Luxury blended black tea with whole spicesGet ready for a total rarity: a really good flavored tea! The dry tea is a blend of Assam orthodox leaves and various Indian spices– cinnamon, cloves, cardamom, nutmeg, saffron, cloves, ginger and black pepper. The tea contains broken pieces of spices as opposed to flavoring oils. A sight to behold! And an aroma that will transfer you to an Indian kitchen! The aroma of brewed cup is enticing, with all spices mingling in total harmony. The taste… as a wise man said, the taste of the pudding is in the eating! This tea is a visual delight, an aromatic journey and a perfectly balanced flavorful cup for spiced tea lovers! Steeping: For an authentic preparation we recommend using 2-3 teaspoons (~ 3g) of tea and a cup of water (8 oz), brought to a first boil and simmered for 3 minutes. Then add 4-6 oz milk to the saucepan and sugar to taste, bring it back to a boil and simmer for another 3 minutes. If using honey (in pace of sugar), add it at the end. **For lighter Steeping: Bring a cup of water (8 ounces / 240 ml) to a full, rolling boil and pour over 2 teaspoonful of tea mix. Brew for 4-5 minutes. Add milk and/or honey as per taste. *** If you don’t have a thermometer handy to measure your water temperature, don’t worry! Here is an eye guide– 180° F / 82° C = bubbles form on the bottom of the pot 195° F / 90° C = the first bubbles begin to rise 212° F / 100° C = full rolling boil Packing : We send our teas in a resealable kraft paper zip-lock stand-up pack with food-grade aluminum foil lining. We recommend storing your tea in this supplied bag away from direct sunlight or moisture. We do not recommend keeping the teas in fridge.
