Bai Mu Dan White Tea – Organic – Fujian Loose Leaf Peony – Fusion Teas

The Organic Bai Mu Dan White Tea Experience: A must-try white tea Along with Silver Needles White Tea, Bai Mu Dan is one of the two must-try true white teas. These days, with the antioxidant craze creating so much hype around white tea, it seems that the term “white tea” doesn’t mean much anymore. Although the studies that made white tea so wildly popular were done on tea plants that are only grown in one area of China, it’s common to see larger tea companies hawking “antioxidant-rich white tea” from completely different plants grown elsewhere in China, in India and Indonesia, even in Malawi and Kenya! Unlike these modern white tea variations with their questionable health claims, our Bai Mu Dan White Tea from the traditional white tea region of China truly deserves the name white tea. Tasting Notes: savory-sweet, nuts, melons You can tell this tea is authentic just by looking at it. Its young leaves (or “buds”) are long, thin and covered in white & “down” (tiny hairs used by the plant to protect its newest growth from insects), while its leaves are large and crinkly, with one side crisp green and the other side covered in white down. But brewing it will tell you even more. The pale gold infusion smells mellow, sweet, peachy and floral. The flavor is nutty, with a clear cantaloupe taste and notes of hay, fresh wildflowers and steamed green beans. A green, herbaceous flavor hints at thyme, while the overall character is a perfect balance of sweet and savory. Each sip ends with a refreshing, nutty note. Ingredients: Organic white tea from the Fujian province of China. Savoring Your Experience: Go for mellow and slightly sweet when you pair this tea. You can lean toward the savory-sweet end of the spectrum with sticky rice dishes or roasted chestnuts. Or you can go into slightly sweeter territory with waffles and whipped cream, tapioca pudding, or Asian red bean sweets. Either way, remember these three words: mellow, slightly sweet. Fun Facts: White tea is very simply processed. It’s plucked and dried, either in the sun or with hot air. What else? That’s it! What makes white teas special is the plants used to produce them. Traditional white teas like this one are grown from a limited number of tea varietals that grow in Fujian, China. These varietals are the ones that grew the white teas shown to be higher in antioxidants and lower in caffeine than so many other tea types, and these are the ones that we trust to make the best white teas every time.

All true white teas come from a natural variation of the usual tea plant (Camellia sinensis), one which is known for immature leaves which are unusually large, pointy and fuzzy (or “downy”). Organic Sowmee white tea loose leaf tea Wellness tea 1 LB

Gerry 12.00 ORGANIC SOWMEE a.k.a. Shou Mei (China White Tea) Country of Origin: China Region: Fujian Province Shipping Fuzhou Grade: Sowmee Grade #1 Altitude: 2000 – 4000 ft above sea level Manufacture Type: White Tea – naturally withered Cup Characteristics: Delicious toasty character with body reminiscent of Oolongs. Infusion: Tending golden notes Ingredients: Luxury white tea. 100% Organic certified by BCS, Germany. Information: White tea is very different from other types of tea such as green or black tea. White tea leaves are plucked from a special varietal tea bush called Narcissus or chaicha bushes. Secondly the leaves are not steamed or pan-fired (the process used in green teas) or fermented and fired (the process used in black tea). The leaves are naturally withered and dried in the sun. If mechanical drying is required it is a baking process at temperatures less that 40’C. These leaves must show a very light green almost gray white color and be ideally be covered with velvet peach fuzz down. Sowmee is one of the lower grades of white tea, but despite this it has the properties attributed to white teas. The leaves for Sowmee are plucked during late April, May and June. The lack of processing and hand selection is evident in the leaf appearance of Sowmee as it is somewhat mixed and tending flaky and flat. This Sowmee has a more pronounced taste profile – almost oolong tea-like. Many white tea drinkers prefer this cup in that there is a ‘substance’ to the taste compared to the delicate nuances of other white teas. Researchers at the Linus Pauling Institute in Oregon tested white teas on selected rats to test for the ability of white tea to inhibit natural mutations in bacteria and to protect them from colon cancer. Interestingly, white teas were found to be more effective than green tea in inhibiting the early stages of cancer but researchers pointed out that their study was on rats and the effects should not be extrapolated to humans. The researchers also found that white tea contains higher levels of caffeine compared to green tea brewed under the same conditions. They suggested that this could occur because white tea oxidizes during withering whereas in green tea the oxidation process is stopped early in the tea making process by steaming or panfiring. . Hot tea brewing method: When preparing by the cup, this tea can be used repeatedly (à la chinoise) – about 3 times. The secret is to use water that is about 180°F or 90°C. Place 1-2 teaspoons of leaves in your cup and let the tea steep for 3 minutes. Then begin enjoying a cup of enchantment – do not remove the leaves from the cup. Once the water level is low – add more water, and so on – until the tea flavor is exhausted. Milk or sugar will mask the delicate characters of this tea and are not recommended. Look at the pattern of the leaves – they foretell life. Payment Payment should be made when the auction closed or listing end .We ship out order after receiving cleared payment.
