Creosote… some call it “Chaparral” or “Greasewood” it is a very Sacred Herb that has many, many, many medicinal benefits and uses. The very best use is by drinking it as a tea. Creosote tea is an ancient remedy passed down from Hohokam and still used today by the Natives here on The Gila River Indian Community. It is said that Creosote can cure anything! They have even claim it cures cancer, but aside from that miracle, it can be used for all sorts of relief! From arthritis and auto-immune conditions, to digestion problems such as cramps and gas, cures colds and respiratory infections, and even urinary tract infections. Unfortunately, it does not taste best, but fortunately, I do have some tricks that make it a little easier to take. It can also be made into a tincture and (of course) used for smudging too. General Information about Chaparral Native to the Southwestern US, chaparral is one of the oldest plants on earth, with a stand in the Mojave desert estimated to be over 11,000 years old. The stems and leaves of the bush are covered with a sticky resin that screens leaves against ultraviolet radiation, reduces water loss, and poisons or repels most herbivores. This resin is used in herbalism and to protect wood from insects. It received its name “creosote bush” due to the smell that comes from it when it rains.
